Our Heritage

What started as a venture from a small workshop on the 14th of April of 1956, progressed into one of the oldest Opticals in Lucknow, officially beginning and serving its customers since 1962.

Nestled in a corner of Qaiserbagh in Lucknow, the journey was propelled with rigorous eye-testing, providing glasses ranging across brands, tailor-made for one's special needs, guiding and helping customers with spectacles and lenses.

The story of Hind Opticals became that of heritage in the pre-commercial and digital world, an ubiquitous influence, a household name in Lucknow.

Ours is the journey of spanning through years of workmanship, customised fittings and taking care of our customers personally, an art that is in dearth in today's market. It set Hind Opticals apart decades ago, and it continues to do so today.

The Word Hind

There are a lot of ways in which we can introduce Hind Opticals to you, one of them being through our languages and the words we often use colloquially.
No point for guessing that 'Hind' comes from 'Hindustan' here, essentially the name was rooted in the old Persian language which refers to the broader Indian subcontinent as Hind.

So, the story of the name Hind and what follows is a story of assimilation of different languages and cultures as Hindi, Urdu, Persian are deeply intertwined in our history, the idea still remains: for the name to be a mark of inclusivity and welcoming of people, beyond caste or class, in this case: our diverse set of customers with their diverse demands. And thus, our story and expertise continues through languages and time.
